About Ucardia
Ucardia is redefining longevity and vitality. We combine credentialed coaches, registered dietitians, and AI-powered insights to deliver personalized, scalable programs that help people optimize cardiovascular and metabolic health — extending healthspan and improving quality of life. Our mission is to help people live longer, stronger, and healthier lives, and make it seamless for organizations to deliver that impact.
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, we partner with forward-thinking medical practices, concierge providers, and employers who want to differentiate their offerings, improve outcomes, and elevate the care experience through a modern, tech-enabled platform that integrates seamlessly into care delivery.
Why this role matters
You’ll be a core contributor to Ucardia’s iOS mobile experience, bringing our platform to life for members, providers, and partners. Working within a tight, cross-functional team, you’ll translate product requirements into production-ready code and help maintain a clean, reliable, and secure infrastructure.
This role demands a blend of craftsmanship and speed. You’ll collaborate closely with product and design, coordinate with backend and data teams, and hold yourself to high standards of communication and QA discipline.
What you’ll own (responsibilities)
- Architect, design, build, and ship native iOS features end-to-end using Swift (SwiftUI) that deliver a delightful, reliable experience for users monitoring cardiovascular health and longevity metrics.
- Collaborate closely with design, backend, and QA to translate product roadmap items into working, tested, maintainable code.
- Take ownership of code quality: writing unit tests, UI tests, supporting CI/CD and QA standards (we don’t treat QA as an afterthought).
- Work in a fast-paced startup rhythm: you’ll often be the primary iOS engineer (or one of a few) and will move quickly but responsibly.
- Communicate proactively with the small team: provide status updates, raise blockers early, participate in planning discussions, and help refine estimates.
- Help define and evolve mobile architecture and processes (code review standards, modularization, performance monitoring, crash analytics).
- Monitor, iterate, and improve features post-launch: performance, crash rate, user feedback, A/B test outcomes.
- Mentor or support less-senior developers (if/when we grow) and contribute to building a high-performance engineering culture aligned with our mission.
What you bring (required)
- 4+ years of professional iOS development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI; familiar with Apple ecosystem releases and best practices.
- Excellent understanding of iOS app architecture, performance optimization, memory management, offline/online state handling, and network reliability.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and GraphQL backends, integrating with mobile SDKs, push notifications, and background tasks.
- Demonstrated history of shipping public iOS apps and maintaining them.
- Backend experience with Node.js (or similar), including the ability to write and maintain API services that support mobile features.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud providers—comfortable working with hosted APIs, serverless functions, cloud-based authentication, and event-driven architecture.
- Strong communication skills: transparent, responsive, able to document and rationalize decisions, and quick to raise issues in a small remote/distributed team.
- Self-starter mindset: you take initiative, solve problems independently, and help drive process in areas that may be ambiguous.
Startup-friendly approach: comfortable with rapid change, ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and balancing speed with quality. - Time-zone overlap: while remote globally is fine, we require reliable overlap with U.S. Central Time for meetings, synchronization, and pair-work.
Bonus skills and differentiators
- Experience in digital health, wellness, or medical-device adjacent apps (HIPAA, security, data-sensitivity considerations).
- Experience working with Bluetooth/BLE or wearable device integrations.
- Experience with mobile analytics and crash/performance monitoring (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry).
- Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment for mobile and App Store Connect / Xcode Cloud.
- Experience deploying or maintaining backend or platform services in GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Firestore, Cloud SQL, IAM, monitoring/logging).
- Experience in early-stage startups (seed/Series A) with small, high-velocity engineering teams.
Why Ucardia? - You’ll work at the intersection of digital health, longevity, and mobile technology: a meaningful mission, not just “another consumer app”.
- High impact: with a small team, you’ll see your work used in production, get feedback, iterate, and influence the product roadmap.
- Strong team and momentum: Ucardia is scaling its ops + product foundations, on the cusp of significant growth, so you’ll be part of the foundational engineering layer.
- Autonomous environment: We value velocity, initiative, and intelligent trade-offs; you won’t be blocked by bureaucracy.
- Global remote flexibility: work from where you are, as long as you align time-zone overlap and team communication.
- Equity/ownership mindset: as an early hire, you’ll have a meaningful stake in our success.
