E-Prescribing Policy
Last Updated: October 24, 2026
Welcome
This E-Prescribing Policy explains how electronic prescribing works in Continuum, the platform provided by Ucardia, Inc. ("Ucardia," "we," "us," or "our"), who can use it, and the commitments we make to prescribers and patients. E-prescribing in Continuum is powered by our e-prescribing partner, DoseSpot, and the Surescripts network.
This Policy works together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Notice of Privacy Practices.
The Short Version
- Only licensed prescribers at medical practices that use Continuum can send prescriptions.
- The prescriber always chooses the medication.
- The patient always chooses the pharmacy and can change it at any time.
- Ucardia does not prescribe or dispense medication and has no financial relationships with pharmacies or drug manufacturers.
1. Our Business Model
Ucardia builds Continuum, a platform that gyms, personal trainers, medical practices, hospitals, health systems, and employers use to run their programs and practices, along with the Ucardia member app and Arny, our AI coach. Organizations license Continuum to keep members and patients engaged between visits and to see how they are doing.
Ucardia does not prescribe medication, does not dispense medication, and does not own or operate a pharmacy. E-prescribing is a tool for licensed clinicians at the medical practices that use Continuum, and every prescribing decision is made by that clinician. Practices pay Ucardia for the platform. Ucardia is not paid per prescription, per medication, or per pharmacy.
2. Who Can Use E-Prescribing
- Medical practices, including concierge, primary care, cardiometabolic, longevity, and aesthetics practices. Only medical practices can use e-prescribing.
- Licensed prescribers at those practices, such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Each prescriber is verified and set up before they can send a prescription.
- Patients of those practices, who use the Ucardia app to follow their care plan and who choose the pharmacy that fills their prescriptions.
Gyms, personal trainers, employers, and other organizations also use Continuum, but e-prescribing is not available to them.
3. Why Practices Use It
E-prescribing lets a clinician who is reviewing a patient's vitals, labs, and progress start, adjust, or renew a medication without leaving the patient's record. The prescription goes electronically to the pharmacy the patient chose and is recorded in the patient's record in the practice's Continuum account.
Example: a clinician reviewing a patient's home blood pressure readings decides to adjust the patient's blood pressure medication. The clinician opens the patient's record in Continuum, chooses the new dose, and sends it to the pharmacy the patient already selected.
4. How It Works
- Prescriber setup. The practice sets up each licensed prescriber, who is verified before they can prescribe. Prescribers of controlled substances also complete identity proofing and set up two-factor authentication.
- Pharmacy selection. The patient tells the practice which pharmacy they want to use and can change it at any time. Any pharmacy on the Surescripts network can be selected.
- Medication selection. From the patient's record, the prescriber opens the prescribing panel and chooses the medication, strength, quantity, and directions using their own clinical judgment.
- Review and signature. The prescriber confirms the details and signs the prescription. Controlled substance prescriptions require a second authentication factor at signing.
- Sending. The prescription goes through DoseSpot and the Surescripts network to the pharmacy the patient chose. Renewals, changes, and cancellations follow the same path, and each prescription is recorded in the patient's record.
5. The Prescriber Chooses the Medication
The licensed prescriber always chooses the medication. Ucardia does not select, suggest, rank, or promote any medication, brand, or manufacturer, and Continuum does not display sponsored drug content.
6. The Patient Chooses the Pharmacy
The patient always chooses the pharmacy. Patients may select any pharmacy on the Surescripts network and may change their pharmacy at any time. Ucardia does not select, suggest, rank, default to, or steer patients toward any pharmacy.
7. Our Connections to Pharmacies and the Pharmaceutical Industry
Continuum connects to pharmacies in one way only: prescriptions are sent through DoseSpot, an e-prescribing partner certified with Surescripts, the national health information network that links prescribers with pharmacies.
Ucardia has no financial relationships with pharmacies or pharmaceutical manufacturers. We do not own or operate a pharmacy, we are not paid by any pharmacy or drug company, we do not receive payment for prescriptions or referrals, and we do not run sponsored drug or pharmacy content in Continuum or the Ucardia app.
8. Controlled Substances
Only prescribers who are registered and authorized to prescribe controlled substances may do so. As DEA rules require, those prescribers complete identity proofing and use two-factor authentication to sign each controlled substance prescription.
9. Privacy and Security
Continuum is built to meet HIPAA requirements. Prescription information is shared only as needed to send, track, and record the prescription. Our Privacy Policy and Notice of Privacy Practices explain how we protect your information.
